About Sprinkles
My newest pattern, Sprinkles, is a very forgiving and simplified version of a bargello quilt. You get the same gradated, whales-tale illusion you get with a bargello, however the sashing strips between each piece and each row, make it so you don't have to line up any intersecting seams. It is beginner friendly, comes together quickly and a great mindless project if you're looking for a quilt to make while you listen to your favorite podcast or watch your favorite show! The three different size options mean you can make the perfect quilt for any occasion, whether it's a baby shower, college student gift, wedding gift or just a throw for your couch at home!
Below you will find: Cutting Tips, Piecing Tips, Cover Quilt Information and mockups for alternative colorways. At the very bottom you'll find a link to download coloring sheets for all three sizes and pattern corrections.
Cutting Tips
1. All fabric is cut 2.5" wide, so I suggest starting out by cutting all your fabric into 2.5" strips, and then subcutting into their appropriate measurements.
2. The number of 2.5" strips you will need for each fabric, for each size, are as follows:
Small
Fabric A | 2 |
Fabric B | 2 |
Fabric C | 2 |
Fabric D | 2 |
Fabric E | 2 |
Fabric F | 2 |
Fabric G | 1 |
Fabric H | 1 |
Fabric I | 1 |
Fabric J | 4 |
Medium
Fabric A | 3 |
Fabric B | 3 |
Fabric C | 3 |
Fabric D | 4 |
Fabric E | 4 |
Fabric F | 3 |
Fabric G | 3 |
Fabric H | 3 |
Fabric I | 3 |
Fabric J | 8 |
Large
Fabric A | 5 |
Fabric B | 5 |
Fabric C | 5 |
Fabric D | 4 |
Fabric E | 4 |
Fabric F | 5 |
Fabric G | 4 |
Fabric H | 5 |
Fabric I | 5 |
Fabric J | 14 |
Piecing Tips
I am a huge fan of chain piecing which makes this quilt come together super quickly!
1. Once you have all your pieces cut, set aside all the fabrics of A-I that will make up the top row. (ie- for size small that would be (2) E6, (2) D6, (2) C6, (2) B6, (2) A6, (1) I6.)
2. For all the rest of your colored pieces, sew a piece J1 to the top. Again, I HIGHLY recommend chain piecing.
3. Once that is done, look at the diagram of the quilt top for the size you are making and compile your rows.
Cover Quilt Information
To have your quilt long armed just like this, you can send it to me or your local longarmer! The pantograph is called "Melissa's Elemental."
The colors I used in the pattern were inspired by a 1/2 yard fabric bundle I curated over at my quilt shop, Just Sew. It's a bundle of assorted AGF fabrics, most of them from Elizabeth Chappell's collections. If you want to make the same quilt that I did, here are all the fabric names and links you need!

Alternative Colorway Options
Here are a few mockups I made using alternative colorways from fabric bundles you can find at Just Sew. But you can also just use these as an inspiration of color combinations and curate your own favorite fabrics! All mockups are made using the small quilt size, but the fabric bundles are enough to make any of the three sizes.
